Brahmins Priests Vaisya’s herders, farmers, merchants, craftspeople Kshatriyas warriors Sudras farm workers,servants, laborers Brahmins- They were the highest in society. They were the priests and leaders. Only men were allowed in this position. Kshatriyas- They were the warriors and other rulers. There were not very many of them. Only men were allowed in this position. Vaishyas-They were farmer or business owners. Owned their own business or farm. Sudras-This was the largest and lowest of the caste groups. They were servants and farmhands. The caste system divided society into 4 main groups. What family you were born into determined what caste group you were part of. You could not marry outside of your own caste. The top three castes were served by the forth.
