Let me preface this post by reminding, you, the reader, that I experimented with homosexuality as a teen... I chose by my lifestyle to separate myself from God....He did not separate Himself from me or stop loving me and calling me back to Him by His Word. Today, I am 47 years old and have three daughters, and my middle child is a lesbian and I love her very much regardless of her lifestyle. I have taught my daughter the Truth about God's love and Word. In my last post, I wrote about Reverend Frank Schaefer, the United Methodist Pastor, who was defrocked for officiating over his gay son's same sex union. During the Q&A part of the lecture by Reverend Frank Schaefer, I raised my hand and was given a microphone. I asked Reverend Schaefer why he mostly spent the time talking about his family, used the story in Acts of the Eunuch, who did not engage in sex to compare the Acts account to homosexuality. Reverend Schaefer did not have an answer. I asked him if he could read Romans 1:26-26 and 1 Corinthians 6:9 to the congregation, and if he believed the Holy Bible was the Divine Word of God. Reverend Schaefer opened the Holy Bible, looked down at the Scripture and closed the Bible, and said, "The Bible has many different interpretations." I talked with many congregants of First United Methodist Church after the lecture by Rev. Frank Schaefer. Many people were confused about God’s view on gay and lesbian relationships. Many of the congregants thought that Romans 1:16-32 and 1 Corinthians 6:9 is speaking about gang rape and predatory sex. These men and women believed that God finds same-sex marriage between two consenting adults acceptable. It was not until I was handed a handbook on my way out of the church titled, "Homosexuality and the Bible," that I realized where these misconstrued teachings about homosexuality were coming from. The Fellowship of Reconciliation, an inter-faith peace organization, published the handbook. In the handbook by Walter Wink, he writes on page 13, "When the Bible mentions homosexual behavior at all, it clearly condemns it. I freely grant that. The issue is precisely whether that Biblical judgment is correct." The handbook makes a lot of arguments for homosexuality on the grounds that Jesus supposedly never taught about homosexuality, and falsely teaches people that the Holy bible is not the Word of God. Where the exhaustive handbook makes another grave error is not mentioning the fact that Jesus taught that marriage is between a man and woman (Matthew 19:3-9). Gay and lesbian people want to argue that if they are in a committed, loving homosexual relationship that Christ taught about love and that they are imitating Jesus. However, Jesus taught about Agape love, not sex as the measure of universal love. AGAPE (/ˈæɡəpiː/ or /əˈɡɑːpeɪ/; Classical Greek: ἀγάπη, agápē; Modern Greek: αγάπη IPA: [aˈɣapi]), often translated "unconditional love", is one of the Koine Greek words translated into English as love, one which became particularly appropriated in Christian theology as the love of God or Christ for humankind. In the New Testament, it refers to the covenant love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God; the term necessarily extends to the love of one's fellow man. We are running out of time folks. No person knows the day or hour that Jesus Christ will return for His true universal church (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), before the Great Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:3-4; 2 Thessalonians 2; 2 PETER 3:9; Revelation 13, 14, 17, and 18). Therefore our goal as Christians is to teach the Truth of God’s Word. Romans 1:26-27 (NLT) 26 That is why God abandoned [like a loving non-enabling parent left] them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. All are welcome into Christ's church gay or straight, yet we cannot change God's Word by blessing and approving sin. Our goal should be to teach the Truth of ROMANS 1:26-27, and let people be convicted by the Word of God and Holy Spirit to live by God's statutes...Christ is the only judge who will come back to judge the living and the dead.
