Welcome to Live Arts! We’re so glad you’re joining the ranks o the hundreds and hundreds o theater lovers who’ve created one o the most vital arts collaborations in Virginia. Live Arts started as a scrappy group o artists in the storied Michie building on Market Street back in . Now, almost 25 years later, we’ve blossomed into this amazing cadre o creators, audience members, perormers, builders, supporters, and artisans, propelled by our burning mission o orging theater and community. What makes Live Arts unique? You do. YOU are Live Arts. You are entering a community o like-minded people eager to connect, do, learn, and make. Some o us want to dip in a toe, while others make theater creation a lie-pursuit. That’s what this place is all about: ollowing your passion, wherever it might lead. As Artistic Director, it is my pleasure to help you explore and enrich that passion. Everyone making theater, learing about theater, engaging in a group, or supporting theater makng at Live Arts is a mem- ber o the company, a “company member.” These company members are representative o the community in which we live and serve: in ethnicity, gender, economic background, physical ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, education level, and species. HOW DOES ONE JOIN THE COMPANY? By completing our o the ollowing ten options, and having your “newbie” card punched with each one. Once you’ve turned in your completed“newbie” card, CONGRATULATIONS, you’re now a card carrying Live Arts Company Member! Tour the building with another company member Attend a shop build or 2 hours Take a class Audition or a production See a Live Arts show Attend an orientation workshop Usher or work concessions or a Live Arts show Talk to a Board Member or 5 minutes Shake every sta members hand Attend an opening night party YOU ARE LIVE ARTS.
