Dad was born in Singapore on May 11, 1939 as the third of four children to Mr. Lee Tien Yew and Madame Tan Poh Tee, daughter of philanthropist Tan Kah Kee. His father Tien Yew was principal of Tao Nan School and also worked for Tan Kah Kee at Nanyang Siang Pau Daily before founding Singapore Paper Products Ltd. (SPPL) where Dad began his career in 1958. Although his parents were non-Christians, he was sent to Anglo- Chinese School (ACS), a Methodist school where he learned about the Lord Jesus Christ. He attended Sunday school at Bethesda Gospel Chapel (Katong) for a few years, then stopped until he met our mother Anna in 1963. She brought him to Bethesda (Bras Basah Road) where he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptized on April 19,1965. On November 25,1967 they were married and had 3 sons Alvin (Beng Kiat), Kevin (Beng Tat), and Joel (Beng Oon).
