Throughout 2014, Lake Tuggeranong College Graphic Art and Design students have worked in a pseudo-studio environment known as Avenue 22. Industry design is a team-oriented exercise and requires young ‘creatives’ to work as part of a collective in order to achieve the outcomes of a design brief. Operating as Avenue 22 helped students make this connection. When working through the design process in order to achieve a ‘brief’, young designers need only look to nature to find solutions to problems. Alphabet Zoo is an exploration of the Elements and Principles of Design. Students were challenged to create a vector-based design using Adobe Illustrator from two randomly selected letters. They were encouraged to consider Australian fauna and/or endangered species when exploring their nature-inspired designs. This publication would not have been possible without every member of Avenue 22 (refer last page for credits). Please enjoy... Alphabet Zoo.
