An excing school-wide acvity is coming to DTES in January called Art for the Sky! Daniel Dancer will be working with our students as an Arst-in-Residence teaching about endangered animals and how to beQer care for our world and each other. The experience culminates in a giant living painng where people (all DTES students, faculty, and sta) are the dots of paint and create a single heartbeat of the Schaus’ Swallowtail BuQery. The “big picture” image can only be seen from above. The arst Daniel Dancer will record the creaon of the living painng from high above in a crane and share the video with us during a nal presentaon. Visit www.arorthesky.com (sky gallery, videos, 2009, Sea-Turtle-Sky) and view the Sea Turtle Sky living painng video Mr. Dancer created for DTES in 2009 to get an idea of the fun that is in store for us in January! hQp://vimeo.com/3097331 is the direct link to the video. Grandparents Day 2014 We connue to be amazed by the number of parcipants we have at our annual Grandparents Day celebraon. This year DTES welcomed well over 600 visitors to campus, many of whom enjoyed the nostalgic trolley ride from Four Oaks Community Church. We are honored to have families so dedicated to DTES and our students that they would travel to Tallahassee just to take part in the celebraon! Once on campus, guests enjoyed a gorgeous fall day while having lunch, a Kona Ice and vising the Book Fair. Parcipants were also treated to a fall photo which will be printed and distributed soon. A special thank you goes out to the front oce sta, custodial sta, PTO and our amazing faculty for all you do to make these special events possible. Also, thank you to the Killearn Kiwanis Club for volunteering to assist our campus visitors. Together we are building a Rock Solid Foundaon for our Trailblazers!
