Ezinne Beatrice Ejiatu Akanno ( Nee Ojinnaka ) who cherished to be addressed as “ Ada Zion because of her love for God and the people of God was born in the year 1934 in the family of Ezesinobi of Umuaka, Eze Ojinnaka Okwaraojiaku in Umuaka Njaba local Government Area of Imo State Nigeria and Lolo Ahugo Ojinnaka, (Nee Mba of Umudiure Ndiokwu, Amurie in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State of Nigeria. She lived a fruitful life of 80 years. She was a loved child of her parents and the 1 ST child of her mother hence the name Ejiatu. She was married to Chief Justin Ozoma Akanno of Umuezeala Uba Umuaka in Njaba local Government Area of Imo of Nigeria. She is survived by 7 children, 2 step Children, 23 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a lot of Brothers, Sisters, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and friends. Our mother had the basic education of her time and got married immediately after her education to our beloved father and a man of her dream. Both of them worked so hard to train us their seven children and two step children to the minimum of undergraduate level in education. This was never easy in their time. Mama was very much ahead of her time especially in business. After her marriage, she moved to join our father in Sabon Gari Kano where she excelled in fashion and designing. During the Nigerian /Biafran war, she came back home and continued her business. Our mother was a woman of faith. A model of a mother. Mama was a virtuous woman. She was a peacemaker. She loved God and His Church.. Mama spent all her life for God. She was one of the foundation finders of Anglican Church in Umuaka together with his brother Ezereme Ojinnaka. Mama cherished her Catholic faith from the day She became a Catholic till death .Mother MARY the Mother of JESUS was her role model. Our brother Callistus and our sister Philomena told us that when we were little that mama was so ill that She was given the last Sacrament, that when everyone had lost hope Mama cried in aloud voice and told God that her husband does not have a mother and a father or a sister or a brother that will help him to rear her children, She asked JESUS, if HE will keep her alive that She will spent the rest of her life serving Him. God granted her pray. Mama Served GOD as She promised. She served diligently in various organizations in the Church in Nigeria hence she was nick named Ada Zion by the priests. The church gave her Ezi Ada and Ezinne titles. Her children crowned her Ezigbonne. Ezinne Beatrice Ejiatu Akanno {Nee Ojinnaka} was the Brain behind the formation of Igbo Catholic Community Church in Newark New Jersey USA. Mama you will be missed even in St. Mary ’ s Church Newark and in our Lady of Lourdes, West Orange but Your legacy will continue .She ran a good race and we know that she is now resting with the Lord. Your last words and promise were to be praying for us and as you requested, we are praying for you now and will continue to pray for you. We love you and will continue to love you.
