2Market Messenger - Shawano County Fair - August 21, 2014 4-H Centennial Celebration at the Fair 4-H Centennial Celebration at the Fair There will be plenty to do this year at the Shawano County Fair. We have added what promises to be the biggest Fireworks show in the county on Thursday Night to celebrate the 4-H Centennial. Sunday’s feature band Savannah Jack will get the crowd going with their high energy show. That is just a few things to see at the fair this year. So let’s break it down by Days. Wednesday we will kick off the fair with our color guard and opening ceremonies at 6pm. Rainbow Valley Rides will fire up at 6pm with their wide variety of thrilling rides. 7pm will bring the always popular Tractor Pulls to the grandstand. Wednesday admission price is only $3.00 with FREE parking. Thursday the fair really gets going. Truck Town Polka Sounds hit’s Presidents Park from 6 to 10pm with their wide variety of polka tunes. The Drover’s will rock the Fairgrounds on the stage under the Grandstand at 6PM. At 5pm, try your luck at Bingo in the Bingo Hall, and hang out until 9 when the fun begins as we dim the lights and turn up the music and kick off Cosmic Bingo. Head over to the Crawford Center at 6pm for the Beer and Wine Judging which has become a popular event at the fairgrounds. This all builds up our tribute to the 4H Centennial in the grandstand. This is a FREE Show that will begin at 8:30 the 4H will have a presentation, do some trivia, and slingshot some goodies into the stands. Then at 9:30 sit back and enjoy Firework over the Fair, which will be one of the biggest shows in the County this year. It will be $20.00 Wristband night for the Rides on the midway from 5-10pm … Friday, from noon until 5 will be Senior Citizens day. 62 and over will be $2.00 for admission and $5.00 to park. In President’s Park Roger’s Polka Party will be playing from 1pm- 5pm and the legendary Chad Przybylski will take over from 7pm- 11pm. The Always electric Led West will be playing under the grandstand at 7:30 Friday night. On the Speedway, the always popular Enduro race will hit the track at 7pm. Bingo will start at 12:30 on Friday with a second session beginning at 5pm. Cosmic Bingo session will begin at 9pm. Don’t forget to stop and check out the Livestock Auction in the coliseum at 6:30. Saturday, the fair hits the weekend running. Local product Geoff Landon and the Wolfpack hit the stage under the grandstand at 8:30pm. Geoff promises get the Shawano Fairgrounds rocking. Presidents Park will have the sounds of Gene Lattau from 1:30- 5:30 and Neal Zunker will hit the stage at 8:30. Saturday also bring $1.50 per ticket for rides from Noon until 5pm with it going back to regular price from 5-11pm. On the Speedway, Stock car races will take to the track for Championship Night at 6 pm. Always an exciting night as we crown our 2014 Champions. Bingo will again be taking place with sessions at 12:30 and 5pm and cosmic bingo at 9:00pm. Rondini the Magician will take to the stage for 3 shows. 2:00 and 6:00pm will be a magic show. At 4PM Rondini will do a hypnotist show. The popular Kiddie tractor pull is back in front of the grandstand. Registration is at 11am. Sunday, National act Savannah Jack will bring their high energy act to the Grandstand Stage. Savannah Jack has opened for national star Kenny Rogers and brings a fiddle player that spent years touring with Phil Vasser. This is a show not to miss as these guys will rock the fairground. Like the days prior Bingo will have a 12:30 and 5:00 and cosmic at 9:00pm. President’s Park will be hopping again with Jerry Voelker from 1pm – 5pm and the Legendary Alvin Styczynski from 7pm-10pm. Rondini will have shows at 2:15, 4:30, and 6:30pm in the Jr Fair Building. A Three shows in on as Spectator Eliminators, Tag Races, and Trailer Races will begin at 1pm on the Speedway. Rainbow Valley Rides will be having a $20.00 Wristband special on rides from 12 – 5pm, with regular rides prices from 5pm – 11pm. Monday, the final wind down day still brings activity to the Shawano Fair. Concertina Rich will be in President’s Park at 4:30pm and Rondini will be in the Jr Fair Building for magic shows at 1:00 and 3:00pm. We will have one session of bingo at 12:30pm. The big event of the day will happen on the speedway. At 1pm, the Demolition Derby will hit the track. The Derby always puts on a great show and is a fan favorite. I have touched and just some of the attractions at the fair in 2014. We will also be having a daily Scavenger hunt. A few items will be hidden in the fairgrounds. We will give hints on our Facebook to the location of the item. Find it and win free tickets or food vouchers to the Fan Stand. The Antique Farm Equipment show will be held daily in the Crawford Center from 11am – 9pm. Don’t forget about the Horse shows that will be by the Crawford Center as well. There will be over 1000 entries to look at, the barns, and the Commercial building will be full of unique Vendors. So, come on out for the fun and enjoy at weekend at one of Wisconsin’s biggest fairs. The Shawano County Fair grandstand is the place to be Thursday, August 28. Beginning about 8:30pm, there will be a fun and festive celebration that will include giveaways, a trivia contest, a chance to share your special 4-H memories, and some special awards. Big slingshots will launch t-shirts and our centennial cows (yes, they are stuffed!) into the crowd as well. The program will conclude with a fantastic fireworks display provided by Jerry Bamke, of Fireworks Country, Wittenberg. But you will need to be in the stands to see the show! There is no grandstand charge, just the regular fair admission to get onto the grounds. So be sure to come to this once in a lifetime opportunity! It will be fun for the WHOLE family.
