Objects of Kiwanis 1. To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life. 2. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. 3. To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards. 4. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship. 5. To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build b etter communities. 6. To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righte ousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill. _______ Smile and the world smiles with you, sing a song. Don't be weary; just be cheery all day long. Whenever your trials, your tro ubles, and your care - seem to be more than you can really bear, smile and the world smiles with you - sing a song. Songs of Kiwanis, Kiwanis International Invocation: Heavenly Father, inspire us today with the qualities of good leadership. Give us insight to make wise decisions, integrity to face the truth, courage to make difficult choices and compassion for the needs of others. Let us as Kiwanians never forget that our job is to serve both You and others. And, now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. In our Lord's name. V OTE O N C LUB B YLAW R EVISIONS The club will have a vote at our next meeting (Sep 11) to approve the new revised club bylaws which Kiwanis Int’l says must be in place by October 1. The attached bylaw revision was sent to each member by email last week, after having been approved by the club Board of Directors. Annual dues will increase by only $10, and a New Member Fee will be constant at $110. This is the first increase in dues since this club was chartered in 2005. Some of the past bylaw sections have been replaced by a “procedures” section which clubs can tailor to suit their needs, eliminating required standing committees. Required directors have been reduced, from 5 to 3, and now clubs are only required to meet a minimum of once per month. L OOKING AHEAD We need to get the club ready for the start of a new administrative year which starts October 1 We will be having meetings this month to frame new budgets for both the club AND club foundation, and have them adopted by the Boards of Directors . We’ve also started our planning for Pawfest of 2015, and we have another Fashion Show fundraiser set for November. Frontier Elementary will start a new BUG program AND a K-Kids Club at the school. We also plan to continue the other BUG programs at Mildred Helms, Ridgecrest, and Ponce de Leon Elementary Schools, and Key Club at Largo H.S. M EMBERSHIP Billings have gone out to all members for dues. The club needs to report to Kiwanis the active members who will be on the roster October 1. If you DO NOT plan to renew your club membership you need to let us know that by the end of this month so that Kiwanis Int’l will not charge dues for you. We’ve had a few calls from people asking about joining our club, and we will be very active with membership drives in the months ahead. Every member should do his part and ask someone to join Kiwanis. Q UOTE O F T HE W EEK “In school you’re taught a lesson, and then given a test.
