Mit Greenville hoch hinaus. www.berliner-seilabrik.com Tref en Sie uns au der GaLaBau in Nürnberg! 17. - 20. September 2014 Halle 1 Stand 1-302 3 EDITORIAL S port geht immer, überall. Double Olympic gold winner Heike Drechsler showed the way; in the presence of Olaf Muus, Mayor of the collective municipality of Hanstedt, Hans-Peter Reers of Barmer GEK health insurers and Ulrich von dem Bruch of Lüneburger Heide GmbH, the umbrella organisation of the local tourism groups, she opened the first 'green sport trail' in Egestorf in the heart of Germany's Lüneburg Heath nature reserve. Heike Drechsler is backing a new concept designed to promote exercise in the natural environment known as 'green sport'. The objective is to combine a green approach with exercise and fitness activities. The BARMER GEK health insurance company and the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve organisation have also joined forces in a project entitled 'Taking health a step further' (Gesundheit weiter gedacht). The idea is new to Germany and the aim is to construct a so-called 'green sport trail' in each of the districts within the Lüneburg Heath region. These are circular trails up to 12 kilometres in length on which those seeking to keep fit in an unspoilt natural ambience can train at ten stations using equipment designed to promote strength, stamina and balancing skills. Users can jog, walk or simply stroll around the trails. Ger- many's original fitness trails, the 'Trimm-Dich-Pfade', were created decades ago but have since fallen out of favour and are mainly being left to decay. A more contemporary alternative is now available that couples physical activity with an appreciation of nature. At certain points on the first green sport trail there are printed QR codes that exercisers can use to view videos on their smartphones. The videos show a range of exercises suited to the particular site or piece of equipment. All the videos can also be accessed at home via YouTube. The videos not only demonstrate how to perform the exercises but also explain to users what particular region of the body is being trained. The local project partners are the various tourism associations. Ulrich von dem Bruch of Lüneburger Heide GmbH explained that four green sport trails have already been completed in the Lüneburg Heath region and that a total of ten are planned: "As part of our well-being strategy for promoting healthy recreation in the fresh air, this represents an innovative attraction for both tourists and local residents." Certainly a great idea, but Playground@Landscape would welcome it if these green sport trails were made even more attractive with the addition of other outdoor fitness equipment (see p. 68 ff.).
