Brian was born Jan. 15, 1968, in Idaho Falls to Herman and Wanda (Nielsen) Handy. He received his B.S. in phys - ics at Idaho State University, and then his Ph.D. in physics at Montana State University. He enjoyed his work as Director of Citigroup Japan Holdings. It was in Japan that he met his wife, Mayu- mi. Brian then worked in Guam as a flight instruc- tor at Trend Vector Avia- tion and an optical trans- mission engineer for GTA Teleguam, before founding his own business, Applied Handy, LLC. Brian had a special ability to make friends everywhere he went, both in work and in his everyday life. People who worked with and for him held him in high regard and counted him as their friend. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hik- ing and bicycling, as well as ham radio and trav- eling. Brian had a great passion for flying as a pri- vate pilot and was a certi- fied flight instructor. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Her- man Handy. Survivors include his wife, Mayumi Handy; son, Mutsuki Handy; mother, Wanda Handy; and broth- ers, Dale (Connie), Gene (Xiomara), Norman and Kevin. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services were in Idaho Falls with burial in Taylor Cemetery. Memorial services in Boze- man are pending. Arrange- ments are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www. dokkennelson.com. Errol Tibbitts Errol Wayne Tibbitts, 76, of Rigby, died Wednes- day, Aug. 13, 2014, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. He was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Rigby to Wayne E. Tibbitts and LaR- etta Jones Tibbitts. He was the only son in the fami- ly, with two sisters, Bar- bara Jones and Marjo- rie Smith. He was raised in Lorenzo on the family farm, where he was taught the value of hard work. He attended grade school in Lorenzo and Rigby, and graduated from Rigby High School in 1955; he also received an associate’s degree from Ricks College. Errol served a mission in his youth from 1958 to 1960 to the Northern States Mission. He served in the U.S. Army Nation- al Guard. Errol married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Graham, on May 6, 1960, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They have seven children: Kim (Audrey) of Ogden, Utah, Todd (Tere- sa) of Salmon, Idaho, Craig (Nancy) of Idaho Falls, Mitch (Jill) of Farming- ton, Utah, LaRetta (Dalan) Madsen of St. George, Utah, Russ (Natalie) of Morgan, Utah, and Tom (Kate) of Rigby. They have 37 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. His banking career com- menced in Idaho Falls in 1963 at Idaho First Nation- al Bank; he transferred to Rigby as assistant manag- er in 1968, then to Idaho Falls in 1974. In 1977, he graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School. In 1982, he transferred back to Rigby as branch man- ager. He retired from West One Bank in 1996 and has since thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years. Errol was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Lat- ter-day Saints; he served as a home teacher, high counselor, bishop, finance clerk, stake president counselor, gospel doctrine teacher, as a temple officia- tor in the Idaho Falls Tem- ple for over 10 years, and he and his wife served in the West Virginia Charles- ton Mission. He was also a devoted and supportive Scout, served as Scout- master and graduated from Wood Badge in 1989. He also served as president of the Rotary Club from 1990 to 1991. Errol loved fishing and was known to say, “a day spent not fishing is a day wasted.” He enjoyed tak- ing drives with his fami- ly to places such as Ash- ton and Yellowstone Par to observe wildlife and the wonders of nature. He was devoted to serving others. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older sister, Marjorie. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the LaBelle 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 4223 E. 528 North in Rigby, with Bishop Jeff Grover con- ducting. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Eckersell Memorial Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to ser- vices at the church.
