Representatives from 7 charitable organizations visited our campsite this past Monday to participate in a ceremony and receive a check in the amount of $500. Representing the Make A Wish Foundation at the event, Miss Staten Island, Jamie Macchia, told our campers that they deserved to be wearing a crown for all their fundraising efforts. Another fun and exciting Leagues season has come to an end. In Maccabiah, Josh's Mean Machine Ragin Cajuns won the championship over Calvin's Crew with a decisive 18-9 victory. In Chalutz the championship went to Hayley Rosenfeld's team. Congratulations to all the children that contributed to making this the best Leagues' season ever!! LEAGUE CHAMPIONS CROWNED IN MACCABIAH AND CHALUTZ MISS STATEN ISLAND: CAMPERS ARE TRUE HEROES DEAR ISRAELI SOLDIERS, LOVE, JCC CAMPERS Earlier this summer our campers wrote letters of support to Israeli soldiers. Last week the letters arrived buoying their spirits in these difcult times. [ ] 2
Our Camp Operations dynamic Duo, Samantha Goodman and Adam Miller, engaged in a friendly contest and in the process brought smiles to our campers faces. First, Samantha transformed one of our camp golf carts into a Pink Barbie mobile with rear and side view mirrors, a pink steering wheel, and a horn. Not to be outdone, Adam converted another of the golf carts into a Batmobile replete with the Batman logo. The big winners were our campers who now look forward to our maintenance crew delivering equipment, lunch, and snacks in the spruced up vehicles. One can only wonder how our third golf cart will be remodeled. A day in Teen Travel begins with morning arrival in the camp shelter on the eld where the campers greet their counselors. They then quickly nd their friends and catch up on everything that happened since the previous day ended. From there, the day truly begins as the campers make their way down the hill to the buses where they prepare to travel towards whatever the day’s adventures has in store. They spend countless hours en route to their trips and it is here where many will say they have the most fun just listening to music on their phones and hanging out with friends. Teen Travel is highlighted by great excursions to places like Mountain Creek, Camel Beach, Splish Splash Waterpark, Hershey Park, Times Square, Broadway Shows, and incredible overnights to Six Flags Great Escape and Club Getaway. For the counselors, veteran Michael Lando states, “As a Teen Travel camper I had the best counselors in camp and if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be coming back today. The entire experience on the trips with my friends and counselors paved the way for how I aim to direct my group today. The best part about Teen Travel is that no two days are ever the same and there’s no telling what tomorrow's adventure will bring!” The memories that Teen Travel campers make withstand the test of time and the friendships formed are ones that last a lifetime. It’s the great times with the incredible people that have brought Teen Travel Director Carrie Bernstein back this summer for her 26th year. As Assistant Unit Director Adam Jacobs said, “This is my 15th summer at camp…I even met my wife here!” TEEN TRAVEL -WHERE EVERY DAY IS A NEW ADVENTURE LADY AND GENTLEMAN, START YOUR ENGINES! THE MAGICAL WORLD OF JCC CAMP Hundreds of family members ascended to our campsite to get a glimpse of all the wonderful things happening at camp. The day was highlighted by camper shows and opportunities to see the kids participating in camp activities. "Because our days here are lled with so much laughter, fun, and love...This will always be a magical place." [ ] 2
