Welcome. We would like to extend a very warm welcome to our big city neighbours, York for what should be a very interesting local derby. This fixture is always very competitive, and today has the added spice of the teams being separated in the league by just five points, and our visitors sitting two positions higher, so a bonus point win for either side could make a significant difference to the final league standings. We hope that all visiting players, officials, coaches and spectators enjoy our facilities, our pitches and our hospitality, but that they don’t go home smiling too much. The Swans started the new year with a bang by thumping a very modest Wath team, who looked like they had enjoyed the delights of the Christmas break just a little more than is healthy. This was followed by a visit to high flying Yarnbury, where Selby played the conditions a little better than the home side & inicted the rst defeat on their hosts for 13 months. The kicking of full back Josh Cruise was the dierence on the scoreboard, with the home side edging the try count by four to three. It has been a very sad week for the Swans, with the funerals of former player Mike Giles, who nally succumbed following a brave & determined battle against that dreadful disease cancer at the age of just 44, and of club stalwart Terry Smith following a sudden & unexpected stroke. Our sympathies go to both families. However good news was also on display with the continued success of the junior section in producing youngsters who are achieving honours within the game, & very much credit must go to all of this group for their continued hard work in developing the young people within the club. More good news is the formation & development of a girls team and the report of fty youngsters turning up for a Micro Session ! Once more a very warm welcome to all players, ocials, and spectators from wherever and please enjoy your afternoon and please ensure that you respect our referee today, and all referees always.
