CONGREGATIONAL MEETING The annual fall meetings of the congregation and corporation will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Sunday, October 19th, for the purposes of hearing and acting on the report of the Nominating Committee as well as conducting any other business that may rightly be presented. This is a very important gathering of our congregation; those elected are being asked to provide vision and leadership for Wayside in the years to come. A brochure with biographical sketches of all the nominees will be available. Please add all these good people to your prayers. NEWS ABOUT THE CHURCH GARDEN 2014 was another excellent year for the church vegetable garden. Many thanks to all those who contributed their efforts to help make it so productive. It was truly a communal effort. In addition to all the good produce made available to Sunday worshipers, we were also able to send more than $300 to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen. So as we were able to feed ourselves, we also helped to feed God’s people in need. Good job all the way around. DO YOU LIKE TO KNIT? If so, you could put those skills to a special use. The Wayside Prayer Shawl Ministry makes and gives shawls to people in difficult circumstances such as serious illness, bereavement, and moving from home and occasionally in situations of celebration such as a 100 th birthday. The pattern most choose is a very simple one, but knitters can use other patterns if they wish. The group meets at 7 P.M. each third Tuesday evening in the Prayer Room at church. For information, talk with Jean Moore, Mary Marsh, Gretchen Kelley, Jan McEllroy, or Rose McLaren. SECOND SATURDAY WORK PROJECT In October we are fortunate to be invited back to the Kids’ Café. This has become one of our annual projects. Due to the Fall Convocation the previous weekend, we will head to the Café on the morning of Saturday, October 18 th , working from 9:00 A.M. until about noon. Most of our efforts will be directed toward cleaning; no equipment is needed, but you might want to bring rubber gloves. If you are interested in participating, sign up in the Lobby. Wayside would like to express its genuine gratitude to several people who have gone out of their way to meet some of the specific needs of the church. Special thanks to: Mark Twinem (Chair) and the Pastor Nominating Committee who worked straight through the summer and continue with weekly meetings Mary Larson (Chair) and the Interim Search Committee, who also have put in hours and hours trying to plan for Wayside’s future There are many others who contribute generously of their time and efforts in support of the church; we are grateful to all of them. MANY THANKS PAGE 2 INSIDE WAYSIDE VOLUME 53, NO 9 PRODUCE EXPRESS We are helping Second Harvest Food Bank again this October with their Produce Express that distributes food to the needy at Wayne School.
