Chef Irie Spice, the Global Culinary Architect, is the executive chef of Irie Spice Inc. - Personal Chef and Catering Services which provides services to the tri - county area of South East Florida. Chef Hugh hails from the beauti- ful Caribbean Island of Jamaica in the West Indies. He grew up on a sugar plantation under watchful and caring eyes of his parents, both successful business professionals in their own right. Before relocating to the sunshine state, Hugh migrated with his family to New York during his teenage years. He completed his college career at the University of Florida where he earned a bachelor’s degree from their renowned School of Architecture. Hugh always had a passion for cooking and felt right at home in the kitchen; in fact he was the go to chef on campus during his college years. Although, at the time, no one ever imagined his passion would one day overcome his career goals; after working several years in the field of architecture, the yearning to create culinary masterpieces vs. aesthetically pleasing architecture overtook his desires. With a renewed hankering for cooking, Hugh enrolled in Johnson & Wales University’s Culinary Arts program to embark on his culinary journey. After graduating with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts, Chef Irie has taken on the South Florida culinary landscape with a new fervor. He has worked in such establishments as Bimini Boatyard, Turnberry Isles and Half Moon Bay Cafe to name a few. Being a personal chef has allowed Hugh to work with entertainers, artists, athletes and many of the South Florida elite.
