In 2005, Hurricane Katrina occurred in New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina caused a lot of flooding and had an estimated of 81 billion dollars of damages, thus making it the most expensive natural disaster that has ever happened in the United States. More than 1,800 people died and 15 million were affected. A total of eighty percent of New Orleans was underwater and the flooding is still being recovered from even today. Much love was given during this tough time for the city. New Orleans is still repairing from this harsh 2005 flooding today.
