Mediation Services had a great year in 2014! We’ve had an increase in the number of mediations, a surge in the number of referrals from city staff and police departments, and continued success in fundraising and grant writing. Which all lead to a significant revenue increase for 2015. We have also expanded our service area to include Isanti County and, starting in January of 2015, Chisago County. Behind all of these numbers are our tremendous volunteer mediators who continue to amaze us with their dedication to serving their communities. They keep up their skills with required continuing education and then use those skills to work in often emotional situations as they step in the middle of difficult conflicts. In 2014, the value of their efforts was calculated at over $108,000! But more than the monetary value, take a look at the opposite page and read the typical comments they receive from the parties they help. People in conflict desperately need our help to learn how to manage and resolve their conflict and to move on with their lives, creating more peaceful families, neighborhoods, and communities. Making a real and positive difference in the community – that’s what drives our mediators and our entire organization to serve and to grow. With the continuing support of our donors, we will keep reaching out to serve more people in conflict in 2015 and beyond.
