PAGE 2 Summer Showdown 2014 Ron Morales Scholarship No Tie Breaker for this Contest Beeville and Falfurrias tied for first place in this year’s Summer Show- down. Both centers con- ducted a “Community Involvement Project”, demonstrating creative ways of giving to their communities. This year’s judges were Den- ise Bryeans and Cathe- rine Smith. Beeville IDD Center made 80 bags full of toys, cray- ons and knickknacks for children. They took the gift bags to the Head Start Program and po- lice station in Beeville. Each week the center went to the Head Start Program to interact with the children. Activities included teaching skills such as hand washing, manners and story time.
