Kean Soo Kean Soo is a Canadian cartoonist and author of several books. His Jellaby series was nominated for the Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic in 2006 and won the Shuster Award for Best Comic for Kids in 2009. At 16 she was imprisoned and tortured for speaking out against the government. Escaping to to Canada in 1991, her memoirs ( Prisoner of Tehran and After Tehran: A Life Reclaimed) have won multiple awards including the Human Dignity Award 2007 and the Morris Abram Human Rights Award. His own family life has served as inspiration for much of his writing.
