Some games involve students competing against each other, while others use teams. Here are some un – and airer – ways to choose teams: 1. Have students line up by birth dates. The irst hal o the line belongs on one team, and the second hal o the line belongs on the other team. 2. Have the students line up by height. “Fold” the line in hal by bringing both ends together, the shortest with the tallest, the second shortest with the second tallest, etc. Cut the line in hal through the middle, and you will have a balanced set o teams. 3. Choose the teams yoursel. You know students the best , and you know their weaknesses and strengths, as well as the personalities you would like to be together…and those that you wouldn’t! 4. Count of or the number o teams needed or the game. 5. Pass out cards rom a deck. I you need our teams, separate students by the suits they are holding. I you need two teams, separate by card color – red or black. Just a Reminder Remember, you are responsible or the saety o the students in your care. While these games are un, remind students to walk, not run, indoors, and practice saety. Accidents can happen and mis- takes in judgment can have consequences. Use the expectations your program has outlined and common sense; do not be araid to stop any game that seems to be getting out o control. 3
