Suzanne Collins got her inspiration to write The Hunger Games from several places. She had classical and contemporary inspirations play a part in her creation. Her initial inspirations came from classical Greek Mythology, and the Roman Gladiators. As a child, her favorite Greek myth was Theseus and the Minotaur . In Theseus and the Minotaur , the children of Athens are sent into the Labyrinth as punishment for going against Crete.
