2 2 Nymboida Rally Report 10 th - 16 th September 2013. Hello everyone. Bob and I had a lovely time at our 5 star bush camp. We had 11 vans present. Everyone said they had a good time and enjoyed it very much. Well we may have been in charge of running the rally but Jim and Carol got there the day before, and selected the best spot, of course. Bob lit the fire and sent up heaps of smoke, as only Bob does and they all started to arrive. When you arrive at the Canoe Centre, you simply have to find a site where your hose and power will reach your van and Bob’s your Uncle. (Excuse the pun.) The boys all produced their chain saws, led by Graham Wiggins, and headed for the bush and got a good supply of wood. Jim was ordered to put his Satellite dish up so the girls could watch the Bold & Beautiful. The camp fire was the centre of attention for the week. Camp ovens, wire grills and hot plates, dominated the scene and lots of dampers and stews were produced. I think we could say that we had a scone/pikelets cooking competition, using their own camp & van ovens. Whilst no winners were declared everyone agreed that it was an excellent effort. My Bob cooked his famous Rock Cakes in the Halpin van oven, and they must have been good as not a crumb was left. Walter, Pauline, Keith & Noel all produced their speciality and were enjoyed by all. Noel also brought out his guitar and led us all in old Australian Bush Ballard’s and some of the old 50’s. Doesn’t get any better than that. The disk bowls was won by Carol Neil & John Winchester with Jazza & I runners up. We also had a game of Ladder Ball, (Jazza calls it Testicle Toss) can’t think who won it but we had fun. The Gum Boot throwing completion was also a bit of fun until Val wiped out our club photographer Keith, with one of her throws. The ladies all rushed around to help and Keith milked it right to the end. Bob & I went into Grafton and got a heap of meat for the camp ovens. The ladies all did vegetables, some made gravy and apple sauce and of course sweets to finish off. A great meal was had by all, and my thanks go out to everyone for chipping in and making it an ex- cellent night. You have all probably heard that Bob & I picked up our new Van and we had our first outing at Nymboida &( NO), we didn’t Christian it, as Bob had a headache. Perkins Caravan of Lismore, where we purchased our van gave us a set of Teflon Saucepans valued at $200, which we decided to raffle amongst ourselves including Noel & Maureen’s friends, John & Joan, who want to join our club when we have a vacancy. You wouldn’t want to know, John and Joan won the prize and I have never seen anyone so excited. They copped heap of friendly banter about outsiders moving in, but they did buy two tickets each. We made enough from the raffle to pay for the Disc Bowl & other prizes and had $80 left over to give to our club. Bob & I thank you for your combined contribution, for the success of our rally; it made our job so easy. Take care everyone... Jo & Bob.
