On the 3rd day Ken got into one of his favourite things...analyzing properties and crunching the numbers...and I was pleased (and a bit shocked) to see that everyone in the class was happily participating as well! We wrapped the day up and had a couple of the students jump on the opportunity to participate in our new BDAM! program (Big Deal Action Mentorship) - getting 1 on 1 mentoring with Ken, and a personalized 'big deal' marketing plan and campaign with me. I stayed over a few more days after the bootcamp to host a couple of Cashflow 101 game nights. We held the first one in Ot- tawa on Monday night. We didn't have a big turn out, but the people who did come were very enthusiastic, and it was fun. The next day Ken wrangled me into helping him with some running around. After we picked up his brand new Toyota Tundra truck from the dealership, we ended up re- placing a refrigerator in one of the new buildings. I got a bit of the 'handyman' experience (and a good reminder of what i do NOT want to be doing for a liv- ing...moving large appliances!). Wednesday, Oct. 22nd we hopped in Ken's brand new pick 'em up truck and headed off to Toronto. Ken took me the scenic route, and we checked out the city of Kingston (where we will be looking for 'big deals'...see my marketing article for what our plans are for that), and then checked out Ken's 54 unit townhouse complex in the small city of Pick- ton. We arrived in Toronto later that afternoon (after battling some crazy pre-rush hour traf- fic...which always reinforces my decision to live in a small city)! That is when we found out about the tragedy that happened earlier that day in Ottawa - with the young soldier being murdered at the war memorial, and the shoot-out in the legislature. Sad and crazy things. And several of our ABWG Bootcamp students had just been there the day before! Although we still had a good cashflow night, there was a definite damper on the mood. I came back home to Kamloops on Oct. 23rd, and because it is my week with them, I picked my kids from the sexy-exy's place (my new nickname for my ex-wife Susy :-). We had a fun weekend, going out to see the bumper-crop Salmon run at Adam's river (about an hour East of Kamloops). We also checked out a couple of corn mazes near town. The most impressive one was out at the old "Tranquille" farm site. This is a full- out ghost town (about 8 km away from the Kamloops airport) that was first settled 150 years ago. It was a tuberculosis sanatorium for a long time, and then a mental institution for many years as well. It was all shut down in the late 60's and is rumored to be haunted (hundreds, if not thousands of people died there). A local developer is trying to create something of it, but I think it's a real struggle. That said, it does make a very spooky place to have a Halloween corn maze - so we all enjoyed that. As I write this, I am getting ready to get on another plane and head off to Edmonton for the Suite Solution 3 day bootcamp with Rick Wheeler.
