2 Voice of AURAK The Department of Public Works and Public Services in Ras Al Khaimah has begun the first phase of the project for developing the Clock Roundabout in RAK. The Clock Roundabout was a famous landmark of the principality that was constructed about a quarter of a century ago. The main aim of the new developments is to expand the streets as commuters often experience traffic jams especially if they are coming from the areas of Khazam, and through Al-Faisal Street. Removing the Roundabout Clock was the first stage of development. It is believed that the the concerned department will either construct a bridge or place traffic signals to ease the flow of traffic. We hope that the citizens of RAK are benefitted throu h this move. Clock Roundabout no more! Masters of Education at AURAK I have been teaching for a long time and have been in charge of projects involving many people. After learning about the Masters of Education program at AURAK, I felt it would satisfy my desire to marry my experience with a sound theoretical knowledge. Also, given the emphasis on both education and leadership, I felt that the course would allow me to continue my research while at the same time establishing my career in leadership. For me, the key to balancing my full-time employment and part-time course was getting the two to support each other. I have also gained a great deal from the program. I think that most of all I have developed an understanding of how to approach research in my area. As a teacher, I have come back from faculty sessions enthused with new ideas, and this has had a clear impact on my teaching. Also, I have gained an ability to theorize, analyze and evaluate are the key components of leadership, and I now feel much more secure applying these critical frameworks to both my professional practice and academic research. I have also learned from the diversity of people sharing this course, and no doubt from the lecturers. The part-time M.E.D. is a challenging program, and students gain a great deal from it, not just from the lectures, but also from seminars and group discussions. The professors give students sufficient self-autonomy and provide many opportunities for students to learn from each other, which I found very refreshing, motivating and effective. The course is structured enough in the early days to ensure you don't feel lost, yet sufficiently flexible later on to allow you to follow your own interests.
