© Capella University ED8540/ED8541 Internship Activity Log Internship Activity Log Date Hours Activity, Artifact, Assessment Description Specialization Outcome July 18, 2011 5 hours I attended the Title III Monitoring Protocol pre- planning information session with learning support coordinator and elementary and middle ESOL teachers to discuss the areas of compliance that need to be addressed by the district. My responsibility included reviewing the professional development section to determine what activities need to be added to the agenda as well as determine the relevance & effectiveness of what is currently offered. Specialization Outcomes 1, 3, & 4, & 5. July 19, 2011 6 hours Compiled and organized data for current year monitoring forms and teacher evaluation of student performance for post exit data for former English language learners. Specialization Outcomes 1 & 3 July 20, 2011 2.5 hours Completed Class Keys Self Assessment & Reflection & Discussed process with other secondary ELL teachers in terms of the needs of the students, current school and district initiatives, and the individual professional needs of each teacher. Specialization Outcomes 1, 3, & 4, & 5. 6 hours The focus of the activities today one centered on planning and preparation for the opening of the 2011- 12 school year and preplanning activities. One of the most laborious tasks that I completed during this week was the management and updating of the online language learning program for the English language learners, Rosetta Stone. With 25 teachers and 150 language participants, I had to make sure that the system was updated with the proper information. The Rosetta Stone update will be ongoing until all information has been updated and all teacher administrator accounts have been created July 21, 2011 6 hours I attended GRASP meeting where discussion were focused on using the new skills assessment tool to identify student areas of weakness and plan intervention activities accordingly. My task includes working with other ESOL and content area teachers to determine how this new diagnostic assessment task can be used in conjunction with the English language proficiency assessment to design instruction for linguistically diverse students. The GRASP activities will be ongoing throughout the experience. Specialization Outcomes 1, 3, & 4, & 5. 3 hours Today I continued to work on the Rosetta Stone online update. July 22, 2011 4 hours Attended Class Keys meeting to discuss profession development plans and goals for teacher improvement as well as student performance improvement.
