New look Irish primary School Journal. We have brought all the centrefold supplement pages and table book to the front of the journal and we have tidied layout.
My Irish Journal is replete with classic reproduction copies of very rare early twentieth century images of Ireland. Seanfhocail (Irish proverbs), poetry verse and song all attempt to complement the illustrations on each journal page. While these images evoke a somewhat romantic vision of Ireland as seen through the artist (who went under the pseudonym “Misneach” meaning courage) they nevertheless capture a rare insight into everyday life at the turn of the last century. The colours generated in the pictures peppered throughout the journal are as near to original as was possible, giving them an unique period sense and context. In scripting this journal with your unique personal hand we trust the touch of these times past will draw you back to your Irish rootage. The pictorial social history and the ancient oral tradition encapsulated here will hopefully resonate with the gene seed of Irishness deep within you. The Irish way of life in its many and varied facets is beautifully and comprehensively illustrated and includes modes of transport, trades, occupations and crafts, pastimes, schooling and in particular agricultural methods used at this period. Farm, trade and domestic utensils and implements are also delightfully depicted and help capture a glimpse of everyday life in firstname.lastname@example.org circa 1913 . The original canvasses, of which a rare few examples exist, were used as an aid to teaching Irish in schools and were entitled “adhbhar Cainnte an Mhuinteora” which translated, means conversational subject matter for the teacher. Said aids comprise a set of four posters (3’x2’ approx.). Copies of the posters are available in varying sizes through our website below.
