Standard 1: Instruction Evidence: a. Is the local curriculum based on the state curriculum course guide? Yes. The documentation provided to support this standard is found in the attached letter from the Career/Technical Director for Muscogee County School District. Additional support is found in the instructor’s lesson plans, course syllabi, and county curriculum guidelines found throughout this notebook. b. Does the local curriculum reflect the current published and endorsed state standards and objectives for Marketing Education? Yes. The marketing education courses taught at Northside High School are only those courses approved by the Georgia Department of Education. A copy of the Northside course registration booklet and pathway explanation documents have been included to indicate the exact state numbered courses offered to Northside students. Documentation for standard 7a shows printed material used to communicate curriculum and pre-requisites to students, advisors, counselors, and administration. Is an effective course management system in place that includes standards, objectives, and assessment tools? Yes. All courses taught include course standards and objectives as directed by the Georgia Department of Education. The instructor utilizes various assessment tools including tests and performance assessments. Review course syllabi from previous standard, student work samples and rubrics for verification are included in Appendix 1. The instructor utilizes infinite campus to manage the academic records of students. A sample student academic record utilizing this program is provided for verification. d. Do the lesson plans and instructional support materials reflect organization and detailed preparation for instruction? Yes. See sample full lesson plans in appendix 1. e. Does the program provide a variety of learning activities and methods of assessment in order to accommodate students with diverse needs? Yes. Students complete a variety of written assignments, group and individual projects and oral presentations throughout each of the marketing courses taught. Several students in the marketing program are classified as Special Needs and various accommodations are made to meet their academic needs including more time to complete assignments, material provided for home use, or altered assignments based on individual needs. Statistical data for special and non-traditional populations are provided on the next page. f. Does the program equip students with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes to successfully enter a variety of marketing occupations? Yes. Introductory skills are included in business ethics, interpersonal skills, oral, and written communication skills, marketing vocabulary and marketing math that can be applied to any occupation.
