Sports Mini Ball Otatara Boomers played in the Year 5 and 6 boys’ grade. They were a very polished team that worked well together by sharing the ball around supporting each other on the court. We won 6 games and lost 4 and came fourth overall in this grade. Well done to all the boys for their effort, enthusiasm and fair play showed when playing. Waterpolo This year we had a slightly different format for water polo with our senior players joining with Donovan and our junior players joining with Ascot to make up teams. It was a great water polo season for the Otatara/Ascot team, there was such enthusiasm from all the players. The team played well during the season and made it into the play-off for 3rd and 4th. The final was very exciting to watch with the game going into extra time. The opposition scored a goal with only a couple of seconds remaining and denied our team the victory. The senior players also integrated successfully with Donovan and the following students are now training with the Southland squad - Florence McKenzie, Regan Cross and Harrison Brown. Congratulations to those players and to Florence who played for the U12s in Auckland. Our grateful thanks go to Jeanette Cross and Sarah Lovell who managed and coached the teams. Road Patrol I have had a good response to my plea for parents to help on road patrol duty next year. Just a handful more would make the task much more manageable for all. Please email lyn@otatara.school.nz if you can help with the days you are available. Many thanks. Safety Vests Could all Year 6 students remember to return their safety vest to the office before the end of the year. Please ensure these are washed ready for re-issue next year.
