Thursday 24 July 2014 – Term 3 Week 1 Confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners striving for excellence Tena koutou katoa nga mihi ki te whanau o te Kura o Otatara - greetings to all families of Otatara School. A new term has begun and we are into the second half of winter. It will be another exciting term nevertheless; school disco, Polyfest, Dreamweaver, Maori art focus, Sing Out, Year 4 girls self-defence, and a ski trip to name a little of what is coming up. Our principal, Mrs Livingstone, is away on her well- earned sabbatical, which gives me the opportunity to step up and lead this wonderful school for the term. Whilst I will be introduced to some new challenges, I know that I am surrounded by a hard-working and competent staff and Board of Trustees and supported by delightful students and wider community. I hope all Otatara students had a good holiday break and parents and families managed to cope with them all at home for the duration – never particularly easy in winter. I trust I was the only one whom was careless enough to slip in the damp, and spend quite a few days laid up with a broken ankle – ouch! Heoi anö t ā ku mö n ā ianei - That's all for now N ā ku noa n ā - Yours sincerely Peter Nielsen-Vold Welcome Welcome to !
