From Pastor Donna Page 2 “Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click the shutter.” Ansel Adams I love photographs. And I take a lot of photographs. It’s a hobby for me. In the last few years I’ve really enjoyed putting together photo books online. They give me a chance to remember the story of a trip we took, or a project completed. Or I just enjoy seeing the faces of people I love captured in a photograph! One influence on my love of photography was Mike Wonser. Mike was a photographer who I only met after his death as I was working with his family on his memorial service. Mike and Mary had not lived long in Ore- gon City, but came from a Lutheran Church in Bend. Part of my research for the service was reading his professional website. Mike had a very spiritual approach to his work. “My more than a four decade odyssey with a camera has been to pre- serve glimpses of our cultural traditions of strength and dedication to pride of our foundations and to provide inti- mate glimpses into our everyday environ- ment to achieve a peaceful, quiet, and inti- mate moment of solitude. For one reason or other, I have found myself recording vi- gnettes of our environment that show the passing of time, the decaying or overlooked elements that illustrate pride of the past that have a story to tell. My hope is that my im- ages encourage people to slow down and lis- ten to the many stories that surround us and just maybe, get to know their inner selves.” (www.mikewonserartphotography.com) So, the invitation for all of us to take photos and look at photos and bring in photos to share is an invitation to slow down. To be curious about the stories we are seeing. To ask each other what we notice, what we won- der, and what God might be showing us. Consider this summer refreshment for our “inner selves”! I look forward to seeing what you are seeing! The Walk Prairie Cathedral 49 Contact Us!
