Title: every lm poster needs a tle to create coherence for the audience, it needs to be memorable and include a font that relates to the corporate package of the lm. Somemes, lms are so well known or ancipated, that the poster does not need a tle (Harry Poer for exam- ple). The sizing and posioning of the tle is also important, when placed in the middle, the tle is in the most eye catching place for example. Somemes a poster just uses a tle alone to reect the connotaons Quotes and rangs: Oen, once a lm is shown to crics, the producers can re- make the trailer and poster to include rangs and quotes from crics. These crics oen represent presgious magazines such as EMPIRE or newspapers, this makes the audience believe the lm will be good because a valued cric has given their approval. Powerful adjecves such as “intoxicang” or “exhilarang” are used to describe the lm. Not all of the review quote is incorporates, only the important and posive secons. Awards: This is similar to reviews as it provides posive feedback for the lm. They are usually placed on the posters during awards season to build hype. I t can be for the lm, the actors, directors or screenplay, generally award nomina- ons and wins mean the lm has been well received by crics or awards bodies such as the Baas or Oscars. This method can be used to promote the lm. The Oscars and BAFTAS are presgious lm awards that can make an actors career, for example if they win, they will be referred to as “academy award winner….” this will instantly give them a presge, therefore audiences will think the lm is good due to a presgious actor being involved. Oen these ’menons’ will be used on the dvd cover to get audiences to purchase the dvd.
