Uluru is a huge stone commonly regarded as the largest in the world, and is located in the desert of central Australia (See Figure 3) (Berra, 1998). Above the surface, the rock covers 3.3 square kilometres, is 3.6km long, 1.9km wide, and approximately 9.4 kilometres around the base (See Figure 5)(Commonwealth of Australia, 2014). From the surface, the rock is 348 meters high and it extends several kilometres underground (no one knows exactly how much) (Bradke, 2014). The Eiffel Tower and the Centre point Tower in Sydney are smaller in comparison (Commonwealth of Australia, 2014) (See Figure 4). This rock consists mostly of arkose, which is a course grained sandstone (See Figure 5) (Bradshaw, 2013).
