More from JBFCS
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that an average of 1 in 88 individuals in the U.S. have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. These challenges often present unique safety risks, including wandering behaviors similarly seen in seniors with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Thinking Children was the brainchild of two psychologists who worried that with the advent of the Internet, parents were going to be flooded with information and have a difficult time distilling appropriate guidance regarding child development and learning. Our mission was simple: to present timely, relevant research to parents in an easily digestible format. Always believing that parents are the expert of their child, we aimed to present information that would empower parents to become their child’s best advocate.
JBFCS has a long tradition and commitment to training. The psychology externship program is one piece of the wider training program offered by the agency to social workers and psychologists at various levels of professional development. There is an APA approved internship for doctoral students enrolled in APA approved clinical psychology programs.
