Meet the authors 3 Welcome to Poole Libraries’ spring 2015 collection. A bumper collection of activities and events celebrating all that is good in libraries, for all the family. You can meet the staff of Brownsea Island and nd out about their favourite books, meet some great authors, discover our new collection for people living with dementia, and Love Your Library on National Libraries Day. There’s something for everyone at Poole Libraries this spring. All our events are free except where stated. However, for some there are limited numbers so you need to get a ticket in advance to avoid disappointment! If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need. Marcus Tullius Cicero ‘‘ ’’ Pamela Fudge ‘It’s in the cards’ book launch Wednesday 7th January, 7.30pm Poole Central Library Pam Fudge was born in Poole and has lived here all her life, so we’re delighted to be welcoming her for the launch of her 12th novel, ‘It’s in the cards’. Join us to hear Pam reading from her book and talking about her writing life – and take the opportunity to ask her your questions. Janet K. L. Seal – ‘The King’s Chalice’ Tuesday 20th January, 2.30pm Broadstone Library Janet K.L. Seal lives in an ancient house in Wimborne – and it is the history of this house that inspired her novel, The King’s Chalice. Set in Saxon times, it follows the family of a former slave as they struggle for survival. Find out more about the truth behind the story as Janet reveals some of the history of East Dorset. Christopher Nicholson – ‘Winter’ Tuesday 3rd March, 7.30pm Poole Central Library Christopher Nicholson was inspired by the story of the rst theatrical production of ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’ to write a moving portrait of the later life of Thomas Hardy. We’re thrilled that Christopher is coming to Poole following the publication of the paperback version of ‘Winter’ and hope you will join us for what promises to be a fascinating evening. 2
