Im reporting for NBC on Lincoln’s decision on habeas corpus. For those of you who don’t know, habeas corpus is where a person thats under arrest is to be brought before a judge or court. John Merryman petitioned a writ for habeas corpus which was granted by Taney but then disobeyed by Cadwalader. Later on Merryman was later indicted by the grand jury for shooting an commanding ofcer. Lincoln should have not suspended habeas corpus as it was unconstitutional.
