If the candy cane striped telephone poles didn’t tip you off, then a walk by the greeting card aisle at the grocery store will. The holiday season is here. Festive music takes over the radio and sales flyers flood your mailbox. Between finding the perfect gift, baking for friends and attending holiday parties, this time of year can be overwhelming. However, for most of us there is one place of retreat – home. Whether its twinkle lights lining downtown, perfectly placed candles in each window or mom’s sugar cookies, every family has signs of the season. In a time of year when it feels like there’s never enough time, we find it. We drive for miles, hop on planes and work overtime – just to be together. As friends and family arrive, we’re reminded what all of the stress of the last few weeks were for. In a way, that’s what makes the holidays so special. The town outside may be buzzing, but when surrounded by the ones you love, all is right in the world. This year we’ve got one thing on our wish list: to make this holiday season a little bit simpler. Stop peeling countless potatoes and spending hours looking for the perfect appetizer recipe, we’ve got you covered. You stick with your signature dishes and we’ll fill in the gaps. In all of the hustle and bustle, we hope you find comfort in traditions and let us take some of the work off your plate. Wishing you a very Happy Holiday!
The entire room is filled with warmth from the oven and familiar scents of the holiday. The smell of roasting turkey, fresh baked rolls and cooling pumpkin pie take over the kitchen. Construction paper turkeys line the refrigerator and the football fans in the group have settled into their seats. With all of the activity around Thanksgiving, it somehow maintains a sense of simplicity. No gifts, no lavish decorations, just a feast, designed to bring us together. It’s been said many times that food brings people together. This can be seen from the very first Thanksgiving in 1621, when the Pilgrims and Puritans brought over traditions from England and celebrated their successful harvest. They shared their harvest and feasted, all while remembering to say thanks for the bountiful crops that season. For us, our house and celebration is made up of an ever-growing family. From loyal customers, to the local vendors, to our teams across the country committed to being your local butcher and grocer, we have a lot to be thankful for. This Thanksgiving we give thanks and share with you some of our favorite recipes from our stores in the heart of New England, down to sunny Florida and a few in between. From our stores to your kitchen, we hope you enjoy.
