Here are eight reasons why you should consider choosing interactive, digital flipbooks instead of boring and static PDFs. Check them out!
Attendance and Late Attendance The Illinois Compulsory Attendance Law requires that all children aged 7-17 attend school regu- larly. The law clearly states that parents are re- sponsible for their child’s regular school attend- ance. Valid reasons for an absence include: ill- ness, observation of a religious holiday, death in the immediate family, or a family emergency. Invalid reasons for an absence include but are not limited to: travel (vacation), staying home to baby-sit, staying home to serve as an interpreter, having to work, or being too tired to attend school. We are required to drop students from the schools roster upon the 12 th consecutive day of unexcused absence; in that case you will need to re-register your child. Our first concern when a child is absent is to ver- ify the child’s safety. For that reason, it is very important that the school office knows the whereabouts of your child(ren) when they are absent. Please make sure that the school office has all current phone numbers and email ad- dresses on record. When your child is absent it is your responsibility to call the school attend- ance line or the school office to notify the staff of your child’s absence. If your child’s wherea- bouts are unknown, every effort will be made to reach you using the phone numbers you have provided. However, if you have not notified the school with the reason of an absence and the school office has exhausted all attempts to reach you, your child will be marked unexcused for that school day. RTMS Basketball Program Our competitive basketball program will begin the week of October 14 th for 7 th and 8 th grade boys and girls. Coaches will communicate try- out dates and times through the announce- ments as well as the school website. 8th Grade Boy’s Coach: Jim Kuperman 7th Grade Boy’s Coach: Steve Letzig 8th Grade Girl’s Coach: Jean Minor 7th Grade Girl’s Coach: Beth Koelper (Principal’s Corner Continued) Safety Reminders Texting while driving is banned completely for everyone in the state of Illinois. Any phone use at all, hands-free or hand-held, is illegal statewide in school and con- struction zones. Nearly half of our students are driven to school by parents; please continue to take every pre- caution during the drop-off period each morning. Both lanes can be used to drop-off students if drivers are responsible. Thank you for complying with our after school pick-up guidelines; if you pick up your students at 2:58pm, please do not double park in the left passing lane. Double parking in the passing lane prevents the buses from getting to where they need to be for dismissal and encourages students to walk in front of moving vehi- cles; it’s also causing a major traffic build up on Wolf Road. Parents are encouraged to either drive through and make repeated passes or park in the Northwest Community Church parking lot and have your child meet you across the field. The system works when eve- ryone follows the rules. Thank You Parents We can’t say enough about the parent and teacher vol- unteer response for our September Recreation Night. We know your time is important; thank you for sacrific- ing a Friday night for our students. The students defi- nitely enjoyed the night. Wrestling Coaches Needed We are currently seeking two qualified coaches for the upcoming wrestling season. The conference wrestling coaches meeting takes place on Wednesday, Novem- ber 19. The season officially begins in early December. The stipend is roughly $3200. Please contact Mr. Rog- ers if you have any questions about the positions or if you have any leads on potential candidates . 2
