have been his calling, because Zippy is doing fantastic with learning to jump. When I first set a tiny jump in front of him Zippy gave it his all and did not even hesitate as he went over the jump. So after a little while I gav e the jump more and more height, but it didn’t even seem to faze him. I think that if Zippy keeps up the amazing work then I will enter us into a competition at the end of the summer before I bring him back home with me. July 17, 2014 So it is the end of summer and I go back in two weeks, but this weekend I entered Zippy and I into a riding competition and we are going to be jumping 2’6 jumps. I can honestly say I have never seen a horse learn as fast as Zippy has. It blows my mind to think that people abuse these amazing horses the way they do. Uncle Joe says he has seen a lot of bad things happen to Thoroughbreds in Kentucky since a lot of race horses are bred, raised, and trained here. He had heard stories of horses being sold to slaughter house because they are considered useless or just left in the countryside to die. It really is sad how they can do this to horses, but I’m glad that my uncle was able to find Zippy for me. So today Zippy and I are just relaxing before our horse show this weekend and we are riding on the trails that go up into the mountains. It ’s really peaceful riding him alone in the mountains. So I’m just so excited to see how Zippy does in the competition this weekend. July 22, 2014 Yesterday was our big competition and Zippy did amazing! I was nervous at first because we were surrounded by all these other amazing horses. It was mainly expensive warm bloods that looked like they had been trained very well. I entered two jumping classes and two flat classes, which means we are judged at the walk, trot, and canter. We did so well in both the flat classes; we got a first and a second. And in jumping we got a first and a fourth! I can’t believe how well he did! I’m so happy that I will be taking him home with me and I know we will make a great team. Even though the race horse industry wasn’t wi lling to give Zippy the chance, I am ever so thankful to my uncle for bringing him into my life. I’m glad that I was willing to give Zippy the second chance to be able to be successful in his life and I’m excited to see that the future will bring us!
