Living in concurrent abundance and surrender is living a paradox. If we believe that our Creator came to us to provide life and that more abundant than anything we could ever think or imagine, then what does that look like? Many in our culture would say it’s w hat the American Dream provides: opportunity, security, material wealth, life, liberty, and happiness. I don’t buy it. I suspect that notion is a delusion and a deception. To embrace the suggestion that any country or government could provide those things seems, to me, a fabrication. A facsimile. In fact, a frightening distraction. But I see that that path is wide and most people follow it. Narrow is the path that rejects all that hoopla, and only a few have managed to find it. Some have discovered a different kind of abundance and have learned the phenomenal power of surrender. Too many of us equate surrender with vulnerability , however, and we tragically shy away from realizing its place in our lives. Those who have so generously contributed to this issue of RAIN are among those few who have discovered something different. Their paradigms have shifted and evolved. I am excited to share their wisdom with you. Rita Langeland is one who lives this paradox. She pours love and hope into about thirty beautiful biscuits at Treasures of Africa Children’s Home in Moshi, Tanzania – the organization who will benefit from this season’s issue of RAIN . Tyrhone Tubbs and Sarah Chamberlain live this paradox too. Their current address is… everywhere, anywhere, and somewhere. They live in the here and in the now , inspiring us with hope and dreams that they live out every day. In this issue I have opened RAIN up to these writers and a few more who have words of wisdom to contribute to the world. Their opinions, views, and perspectives are as varied as they are. If you are an up-and-coming writer who is interested in writing for RAIN, let me know. You may find a place with us in 2015! L
