Bloomington Named a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community - The League of American Bicyclists has recog- nized the City of Bloomington as a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community (BFCSM). Bloomington was one of 55 new and renewing BFCs announced, placing it as just one of 326 vision- ary communities spanning all 50 states that are transforming our neighborhoods. In 2003, Bloomington was the first com- munity in Indiana to be recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Com- munity. To learn more about the program, visit bikeleague.org/community. Bloomington Meadows Hospital Recognized - The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) recognized Bloomington Meadows Hospital for their work to reduce patient harm by 40 percent and readmissions by 20 percent over the past three years. The recognition is based on the results of a na- tional campaign known as Partnership for Patients, created by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to im- prove quality and patient safety at hospitals nationwide. Bloomington Meadows Hospital was one of 116 hospitals that partnered with IHA to form a statewide engagement network, Coalition for Care, and participate with the American Hospital Association’s Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) in this ambitious initiative.
