Hundreds of family, friends and community members were captivated by the new take on the classic Peter Pan story and our students shone in their roles of cast and crew. Creative Director and drama teacher Ms Outred was extremely proud of the students involved. “It was magical to see some of our kids up on stage for the first time singing and performing for their friends, families and community members,” she said. “It may have been a small production, but the self-confidence and life lessons that our students gained in the process were priceless. The students got such a buzz from the performance and I encourage them all, and more, to get involved again next year.” Some of Miss Outred’s favourite moments from the performance, which was the first school production at Hunter Sports High School in over 20 years, included: • Standing in the wings backstage trying to calm a student down from stage fright, then watching her march confidently out to a pirate song. • Watching all of the younger kids and siblings in the audience lining up to get photos with Tinkerbell. • Seeing the cast and crew’s smiling faces as they took a bow at the end with a sense of accomplishment. • Hearing the last minute whispers backstage before the curtain opened as all of the students were wishing each other luck and giving each other encouraging pats on the back. And a final word from Ms Outred: “All you need is a little faith, trust and pixie dust!”
