3 SPORTS & FITNESSTECH SUMMIT WELCOME | FITNESS & TECHNOLOGY, 2015 Welcome to year FIVE of the International CES FitnessTech Summit Did someone say plastics? No, WEARABLES! Wristwear, eyewear, smart watches and smart phones, but what does all o this really mean to the Fitness and Technology industry? According to Business Insider, consumers spent $2.5 billion on wearables in 2013 and, according to a report by the market research frm Canalys, more than 17 million wearable devices, including ftness trackers and smart watches, were expected to be sold in 2014. However, a recent article reerenced research rom Endeavour Partners which states “one third o American consumers who have owned a wearable product have stopped using it ater 6 months,” and not always just to upgrade to the second generation. Therein lies the dilemma: now that we have managed to spark everyone’s interest, how are we going to maintain loyalty, usability and sustainability? Today’s panelists and presenters are going to be looking at six main realms in the FitnessTech industry that may solve the puzzle. Panelists will dissect the process o adapting elite training methods or the consumer and how new players are bringing the technology to market. They are once again going to wrestle the long unanswered question—“Fashion or Function?”—and talk about tracking and sharing both with our employers and through social media. Then we are going to take a look at the evolution o mobile ftness through video, DVDs, online streaming and, yes, ftness apps, once again introducing an interactive showcase called “Barracudas on the Strip.” Finally we will explore the parameterso wearable trackers and quantifed sel-analysis to see i it is possible or ftness and technology to seamlessly integrate and create a community that is not just counting steps and cutting calories, but a community that is aecting change by living a healthier liestyle. FitnessTech has always been ahead o the industry in wearable technology; let’s discover the new rontier. — Julie Sylvester , Producer, Sports and Fitness Tech Summit — Peter Sylvester , Co-Producer, Sports and Fitness Tech Summit WATERPROOF STAIN-PROOF AVAILABLE AT JAYBIRDSPORT.COM, BEST BUY, TARGET AND OTHER RETAILERS.
