Amenu at a restaurant is a presentation of food and beverage offerings . Amenu may be a la carte – which guests use to choose from a list of options – ortable d’hôte (tah-buhl doht) , in which case a pre-established sequence of courses is served . It is said that the first restaurant menusarose roughly one thousand years ago , during China , the only region of the world at the time where paperwas abundant and it was during this time, many merchants often gathered in city centres and had little time or energy to eat during the evening. As a result of the large variation found in Chinese cuisine from different regions , the restaurants could no longercaterto the local palates , giving rise to the “menu” . The word “menu” , like much of the terminology of cuisine, is French in origin . It ultimately derives from Latin “minutus” , something made small; in French it came to be applied to a detailed list or résumé of any kind. The original menus that offered consumers choices were prepared on a small chalkboard , in French a carte ; so foods chosen from a list of foods that are served are described as “à la carte,” “according to the board.” The original European restaurants did not have menus in the modern sense; these table d’hôte establishments served dishes that were chosen by the chef or proprietors, and those who arrived, ate what the house was serving that day, as in contemporary banquets or buffets. In Europe , the contemporary menu first appeared in the second half of the eighteenth century . Here, instead of eating what was being served from a common table , restaurants allowed diners to choose from a list of unseen disheswhich were produced to orderaccording to the customer’s selection . A table d’hôte establishment charged its customers a fixed price ; the menu allowed customers to spend as much oras little money as they choose . Many nights when we are hanging out at the selected party’s house/studio we end up eating at one of our favourite fast food joints. There are no recipes to encounter,no oven to pre-heat and absolutely no pots and pans to wash. Why wouldn’t we take advantage of this amazingly care-free approach to refueling? Whether it’s early morning breakfast runs, mid-day lunch dates or late night/dinner rendezvous there is always a joint waiting to fulfill the demands of our taste buds. So of course we are uber excited now that we can visit those same spots and receive super sweet discounts for an entire week. Do you know what we could do with that extra money? Trust me, we do and we’re already making plans for those dollars saved. This week is one we look forward to every year since inception and not even a zombie apocalypse could make us miss this! #FoodieChallange #TeamBangBelly #QSR #WeAreReady #AreYou SUBMITTEDBY: @Jmcan_Buzz #We’reReady #AreYou?
