SPECIAL ADVERTISING 2 twitter.com/jamaicaobserver www.jamaicaobserver.com THE SUNDAY OBSERVER November 9, 2014 JPS, through our JPS Foundation, is delighted to be a corporate sponsor of the Jamaica Observer’s ‘Applaud It!’ luncheon series. We are supportive of this innovative event which we know will provide enjoyable and positive interaction for all involved. JPS is more than the national electric grid operator that delivers an essential service;we are closely involved in our communities and support programmes that enhance quality of life for everyone. This event will therefore allow the JPS Foundation to reach one of our main target audiences and a core stakeholder in nation building – our youth. Celebrating Applaud It! in this way, complements our existing youth mentorship programme, which allows students across Jamaica to connect with and gain guidance and life lessons from our team of dedicated JPS VOLTS (Volunteers On Location To Serve). This luncheon will be a great opportunity for us to share success stories that may inspire the next generation towards pursuing greatness for themselves and Jamaica. We are especially looking forward to participating in Applaud It as we celebrate Jamaica Energy Week, from November 9-15.Our Foundation has involved thousands of students in energy education,as we work towards producing future informed and responsible energy users.Powered by our Foundation’s commitment to improving lives and empowering Jamaicans through charitable development projects in Energy Education, Conservation and Innovation,we look forward to engaging young minds in a discussion on Energy as we continue to seek ways of ensuring an “energy-secure”future for all. Congrats to the Jamaica Observer on this wonderful initiative.Salut! “This luncheon will be a great opportunity for us to share success stories” SHEREE MARTIN, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT CUSTOMER & CORPORATE SERVICES, JAMAICAPUBLICSERVICE Jamaica Standard Products Co.Limited is delighted to participate in this year’s launch of “Applaud It!”.We think that the concept of “Applaud It!”is a wonderful initiative by the Jamaica Observer to give students the opportunity to interact with corporate Jamaica, not only on a business level, but also socially, as students are exposed to the world of fine dining and proper etiquette. It is known that many cultures worldwide are fiercely gastronomic and expressing themselves through food,is as it were,a sacred ritual. Our young people could benefit greatly from the experience of inter- cultural dining which would enhance their knowledge base. JSP as a part of its corporate, civic responsibility believes strongly in supporting the community in which it operates and this includes working closely with our schools. In fact, our annual High Mountain Coffee 10K & 5K Road Races is testimony,as they draw participation from almost every school in the Parish of Manchester and other scholastic institutions outside of the parish. Our races seek to enhance the development of distance running among our very talented and committed students and many have even had the opportunity of developing careers in this arena as they engage in the rigor of training and benefit from the exposure. Again,we look forward to being a part of this most worthy effort and sincerely hope that our students will perceive the immense potential of being a part of this endeavour and run with the challenge. JOHN O.MINOTT, JP GENERAL MANAGER JAMAICA STANDARD PRODUCTS CO. LIMITED “Our young people could benefit greatly from the experience of inter-cultural dining”
