“Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work.” ~Albert Einstein Tuesday, October 28 th was a prestigious day for the hard work- ing athletic community and talented singers of Pathways School Gurgaon. It marked the Athletic Award Ceremony for the students of Middle and Senior School. The assembly began with the School Director, Captain Rohit Bajaj, giving a motivational speech that brought a smile to each and every one. This was followed by distributing awards to the deserving students. Our swimming team had made the school proud in the 4 th In- terschool Quadro Mania swimming championship in Meerut, by hoisting the overall trophy. The team won 6 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals. The team had also taken part in the An- nual Interschool Swimming Meet at Pathways School Aravali. One by one, each of the proud team members stepped onto the stage, heads held high, to receive their well-earned medals and certificates. 5 girls of our Under-14 and 17 basketball team were selected for the Haryana State Level tournament last week. The girls received 3 rd place and the Pathways community is incredibly proud of them for their achievements. After all the athletic achievements awards had been distribut- ed, Captain Bajaj narrated a story about an eagle and a chick- en. An eagle had mistakenly dropped an egg into a chicken coop where the chicken was quite surprised to see such a big egg. Nevertheless, the chicken sat on it and gave it warmth until it finally hatched. The Eagle was brought up like a chicken, never realizing its full potential. One day, another Eagle found this little Eagle and asked him what he was doing in a chicken coop. This Eagle then replied: “I am a chicken, not an eagle”. But even though this eagle could fly, he since it believed itself to be a chicken it was unable to fly. What the students of Pathways School Gurgaon understood from this story is that we always believe that we’re not good enough and we try to be something we’re not, but by doing that we never live up to our true potential. The assembly concluded on a lighter note with two musical performances, one by the students of Grade 6 and the other by Senior School students, Karthik and Arjun. The students at Pathways School Gurgaon are hard workers and they truly deserved the awards that they received. The musicians had a lot of courage to sing in front of more than a hundred people. We look forward to more such proud mo- ments in future. -Written by Trisha Gupta Edited by Rohan Ramakrishnan, Middle School Editor
