Following signifcant investment, Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber (HEYH) is at the oreront o clinical skills and simulation. All our trainees have access to extensive clinical skills acilities including state-o-the- art high fdelity simulators, manikins and simulated patient environments. This allows trainees to develop their skills on simulators and in clinical skills laboratories in advance - resulting in increased confdence. This investment has led to immediate patient saety benefts. With the various changes in workorce architecture over the past year, PGMDE is in an exciting position as part o the Local Education Training Board within Yorkshire and the Humber. Foundation Training Foundation training orms the frst stage o postgraduate medical training. It spans two years and is the bridge between medical school and specialty/general practice training. For logistical purposes training is divided into Foundation 1 and 2 (F1 and F2). HEYH Foundation Programme is made up o three oundation schools and works in close collaboration to ensure oundation training is o the highest quality. The school cover distinct geographical areas and are each linked to a medical school. Dr Catherine Dickinson is the Foundation School Director and is supported by Deputy Foundation School Directors in each school. Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber offers high quality training across a wide geographical area. Our two year foundation training programmes are tailored to provide each trainee with a variety of clinical placements which meet the UKFPO curricular requirements. Each trainee completes placements in a variety of specialties and healthcare settings over the course of the two years. As well as posts in teaching hospitals and district hospitals, other settings include - mental health trusts, general practices and hospices - providing our trainees with a wide breadth of experience to prepare for their future careers.
