continued... FROM THE DESK OF DALE CONGER Focus on doing the work right the rst time to minimize rework. You’re never going to eliminate changes, but showing the work requently to the client or your manager will reduce the amount o rework in those instances where they nd they don’t like how something is developing. I you’re a manager and you nd that you are changing things a lot, are you really delegating and letting your staf work? Are your changes just personal preerence? Are you not explaining the project needs adequately? And i your job is an overhead type unction, you are still part o this efort. Do all that you can to keep the project staf working on projects. ake on all those things that the project staf should be letting you do. O course they are going to try to ormat their own specs, type their own letters, be pills about their accounting matters, etc. You are there to help them, and you should “explain” it to them. You can all work together to get more billable work out the door more quickly. Now a word about all the stuf we are hearing regarding the oil business. It is a act that exas, and Houston in particular, is very connected to the oil business. imes have been very good or the past several years, and now they aren’t. Tat happens on a regular basis. We are indirectly afected since our work is really about building the inrastructure that is needed to support the population, and the population increases when the oil business is good. But our clients are always a year or two behind the curve on taking care o these needs. Te work we are expecting this year is already programmed, budgeted, and unded. Private sector work is more susceptible to abrupt slowdowns, but even there we see some pent-up demand that will keep things moving. We have been aggressively assembling a team capable o moving the company orward, and we continue to diversiy away rom a exas-only practice in New Mexico, Utah, and Louisiana. Tings may slow down by the start o next year, but that doesn’t mean that CobbFendley has to slow down also. Te plowing may get a little harder and we may not grow as ast next year, but we will push to do so. Last year the company grew about 17%. Let’s continue this momentum into the New Year. 2015 Holidays New Year’s Day - Thursday, January 1 Good Friday – Friday, April 3 Memorial Day – Monday, May 25 Independence Day – Friday, July 3 Labor Day – Monday, September 7 Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 26, Day after Thanksgiving – Friday, November 27 Christmas Day – Friday, December 25 2015 Limits HSA $3,350 Individual $6,650 Family HSA Catch Up (Age 55 or older) $1,000 401(k) $18,000 401(k) Catch up (Age 50 or older) $6,000 Benefts Billboard To help with communication, CobbFendley will text information on emergencies, outages, weather issues, important reminders, etc. If you would like to receive CobbFendley texts, please email your mobile number to agoudie@cobbfendley.com.
