Fall Fix Up—LICM will be closed Monday, September 1 through Friday, September 12 for our annual Fall Fix Up. September Workshops Costa Rican Oxcarts Sunday, September 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. The traditional oxcart, or carreta , is Costa Rica’s most famous type of craft. In the early 20th century, the colorful and intricate hand- painted designs on the wheels of the cart were used to identify the region it came from. Today, annual festivals are held to pay homage to this beautiful art form. Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month as you make your own one-of-a-kind, miniature carreta! All ages. Free with museum admission. Amazing Amate Friday, September 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us! Explore the beauty and techniques of Amate Bark painting, one of the many Folk Arts of the Latin American Culture. Learn the history, purpose and process of these skillfully crafted paintings. Create your very own mini painting using bark paper and colorful paints. Ages: 3 and up. Free with museum admission. September Inner Lobby Activities—Fall Leaf Friends Tuesday, September 16 through Friday, September 19 and Tuesday, September 23, Wednesday, September 24 and Tuesday, September 30 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Join us in the Inner Lobby as we gather colorful autumn leaves to make cute little “leaf friends” to take home.
