pring eminar 2014 aratoga prings, NY Spring Seminar 2014, was held in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY on April 11-13th. Over 380 technicians, students, industry representatives and speakers attended this year’s seminar, held at the Saratoga Hilton and Saratoga City Center. NYSAVT brought a unique program to veterinary medical proessionals rom across the state. In addition to our antastic speakers and varied course topics, NYSAVT had its rst Keynote Speaker join the Spring Seminar program. Dr. Laurie Marker, Founder and Executive Director o the Cheetah Conservation Fund addressed attendees, discussing the work she and her team do in Namibia, Arica. Dr. Marker spoke about the difculties o conserving the cheetah population in an increasingly human-dominated environment. NYSAVT’s Annual Banquet and Award Ceremony were very successful! Held at the Saratoga Casino and Raceway, Fortune’s Restaurant, the evening was kicked o with a warm introduction to the harness track and the start o the night’s rst horse race! Attendees were able to watch horses race around the track, while enjoying a wonderul meal and drinks with riends and colleagues. During the Awards Ceremony, NYSAVT presented several awards to outstanding individuals or their commitment to and passion or veterinary medicine. The Outstanding Veterinary Technician o the Year award was presented to Valerie Macer , LVT o Western District. Her contributions o time and knowledge have been invaluable to the members o NYSAVT.
