We have a rare opportunity for you to engage with some of the county’s most passionate animal welfare supporters, at our biggest event of the year, the Care4paws Gala day. Within the grounds of the Woodside animal centre this prestigious charity event is in aid of the Care 4 Paws appeal which aims to raise funds to provide a much needed onsite vet suite for the RSPCA Animal Centre. The event will be well attended and already has a strong guest list that includes appeal patrons and the Lord Mayor who will also be in attendance. Jonathon Lampon (BBC Radio Leicester) will be your compare for both day and night. The Care4Paws gala day will be a memorable day and night for sponsors and guests alike. In addition to our more traditional daytime format there will also be a craft fair, circus work shop and an all new evening event called The Care4Paws Sunday Sessions. Local bands and musicians will take to the stage along with a mystery celebrity speaker, great food and all round entertainment will be a plenty. As a sponsor you will be able to present yourself as a major participant in supporting our appeal and animal welfare in Leicestershire. Throughout the day the event will give you access over 1500 significant individuals in a special setting and atmosphere. We offer a range of sponsorship options from main sponsor to bronze level packages that can meet and promote your businesses social responsibility, plus provide a platform for networking as well as entertaining you and your colleagues. If you can’t see something that is right for you, we would be happy to talk to you about your ideas on how you would like to get involved in the Care4paws appeal. Our rehoming has slightly increased over the last month but we do have more long-stay animals than I would like at the Centre. Most of the dogs currently in kennels are not suitable for families with children under 10 yrs of age. It is becoming increasingly difcult to nd the right people to rehome our animals and it’s a challenge our staff and volunteers tackle daily with tremendous tenacity. Our Animal Centre always looks splendid in summer and our woodland dog walk is really impressive at this time of year. We currently even have a woodpecker who has been photographed by Pam, our AC on call. Talking of photographs, do keep those entries coming in for our calendar competition. You can enter online or send by post marked Pet Pawtraits Competiton . You will nd our address on the back page. Finally You may already be aware of the Fosse Park horse issue that has been in the local news recently, and the lack of understanding the protest group has about the fact that the Woodside branch and regional inspectorate are entirely separate entities. Regrettably the Animal Centre tends to become the focal point for these protests. The importance of getting this message across cannot be understated and as supporters of Woodside I would urge you to help straighten out any confusion about our role by spreading this message whenever you get the chance. Thank you. I hope you enjoy this edition of inside Woodside. G.Wheway Continued from page 1
